Herd of the Hospice? was a major, free, public art installation and the first of its kind in the area. From July-September 2017, a herd of uniquely decorated horse sculptures were exhibited across West Kent and East Sussex.
Designed and painted by local artists and generously sponsored by local businesses; the ‘herd’ werel displayed in parks and other public spaces to generate a positive atmosphere and encourage public interaction, draw people to local areas and create a fun experience for the community we serve.
Hospice in the Weald
Hospice in the Weald provides care completely free of charge to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers in West Kent and Northern East Sussex. This means we are there 24 hours a day to help, support and care for patients with an illness where a cure is no longer possible, and for patients who will at some stage die from their illness, whenever that may be (you may hear this referred to as “palliative care”).
It’s not just at the end of life that Hospice in the Weald can help. We want to ensure that anyone affected by a terminal illness, whether you are a patient, a family member or carer, has the best possible quality of life from the moment of diagnosis.
in the Weald depends entirely on the generosity of the community it serves. So we strive to return that generosity by uniting the community through these uniquely designed horses, which not only draw the people’s attention to the charity and raise vital funds, but also to ensure that the wider public recognises the value of continued support of individuals and businesses.
