Pembury Lass is currently at the vets!
Pembury Lass evolved from my desire to celebrate the physical beauty of the horse, together with the physical beauty and diversity of the Weald.
Using the iconography of map making, the artwork conveys the idea of how the horse and the rural landscape are intrinsically and fundamentally connected. Contour lines, footpaths, woodland areas, roads, bridleways, rivers, ponds and other features are used to define different aspects of the equine form - from the muscularity of its legs to the graceful flow of its mane - literally integrating the horse with its environment.
The public will be encouraged to actively engage with the work, to have fun ‘pathfinding’ their way around her equine landscape - maybe discovering some surprises along the way!
