Learn more about the artists behind Winter Bloom...

Winter Bloom was designed and pained by George Adams, Alex Freeman, Henry Kaplan and Alex Dean, all of whom are Art Scholars at Tonbridge School.

The boys were supported by Ruth Jolly (Art Teacher) Fian Andrews (Head of Art). Alex Dean’s initial idea was to cover the horse in words and then, as a group, the boys discussed what they thought the Hospice represented. They decided that, to them, the Hospice represented a sense of loss yet optimism. From these two words they created a list of 40 which  further explore this idea. The words will appear as hand written, like a letter from a lost loved one. They will create a richly layered, textured and colourful surface that will draw the viewer in closer and closer to reveal their message in ever greater detail.
